Everything You Need to Know About Catching a Sac Republic FC Match this Summer

Sacramento is home to its NBA team, the Sacramento Kings, and its minor league baseball team, the Sacramento River Cats. But it also has its very own soccer club, the Sacramento Republic FC rounding out the trifecta of professional sports in the greater Sacramento region.

Sac Republic is a professional team that plays in the Western Conference of the United Soccer League Championship. They were founded in 2012 and played their first match in 2014, winning the championship that year. Its head coach is Mark Briggs.

Sac Republic Tickets

Single-match tickets can be purchased online in advance. Ticket prices range from under $20 to more than $200 depending on the match, seat location, and seat perks. The most affordable options are in the general admission sections, which are standing-room only. These are identified as the Corner Kick Clubs (CKC West and East) and End C (the Supporters section). General admission areas are known as the most lively of the sections, with the true atmosphere you’d expect at a soccer match. There’s even a section for a dedicated group of fans, the Tower Bridge Battalion, a boisterous bunch that sings, chants, and cheers throughout matches.

On the other end of the spectrum are premium tickets. These options range from reserved field-level seats to boxes, with a VIP entrance, access to a private club, private restrooms and complimentary beverages. Some include complimentary reserved parking, gourmet catering and in-seat food and beverage service.

For most fans, tickets will be somewhere in between. Seat location is really a matter of preference, but generally speaking, many fans prefer midline seats so they can see all the action. There is an upper level (200 level) and a lower level (100 level). The further away from the midline, the less expensive the seats, and seats on the west side, where the team benches are located, tend to be more expensive than those on the east. It should also be noted that some seats have chair backs while others do not. Seats with chair backs are in sections 103–108 and 114–117.

In addition to single match tickets, there are also memberships available, either for full-season (18 matches) or half-season (9 matches) tickets. Purchasing a membership gets you up to 25 percent off single-match tickets, as well as discounts on parking and merchandise. If you’re not ready to commit to a full membership, there are also flex plans, where you can build your own package.

There’s also a dedicated tailgating area, which opens two and a half hours before kickoff. The tailgate zone requires advanced reservations and there is an additional $5 fee. Alcohol is only allowed within this zone before the match, not during or after. Only gas grills are allowed. Learn more about tailgating at Heart Health Park.

What to Eat at a Sac Republic Match

Heart Health Park has a few permanent food vendors, but the way to go is to order from one of several food trucks that are usually onsite during matches. Some regulars offer everything from gyros to tamales, tacos to pizza and everything in between. There are also plenty of options for snacks such as popcorn and ice cream. Plus, the stadium bars offer many local craft beers, cider and wine.

Many fans also opt to eat before the match at one of the many nearby restaurants. Following are some options to consider.

  • Rock & Brews. Located on the grounds of Cal Expo, this music-themed restaurant and bar is a good pre-match choice. They offer a number of pub-style appetizers such as nachos, tots, and wings, as well as hearty sandwiches, burgers, tacos, pizza, and a few salads for good measure. They also feature live music.
  • Pete’s Restaurant and Brewhouse. Pete’s is a longstanding Sacramento staple perhaps best known for its creative pizzas and pasta. But their menu is rather varied, with sandwiches, burgers, entrée salads, and American-style mains such as ribs and steak. Plus, they have a full bar.
  • Kura Revolving Sushi Bar. If you’re looking for something beyond the typical stadium food, this sushi joint may fit the bill. It’s a fun experience for kids and adults alike to choose their sushi straight from the line. Already know what you want? You can also order from a touchpad menu.
  • Chando’s Tacos. The original in the ever-expanding local chain is just over the freeway from Cal Expo. It won’t win any design awards — it’s basically a walk-up window and a few tables on a patio — but their carne asada tacos are worth it.
  • Field House American Sports Pub. This lively American sports bar is the ideal spot to grab a bite before the match. They feature hearty pub fare like sandwiches, burgers, wings, and dogs. Plus, they have a daily happy hour menu with discounts on food and drinks. With 18 TVs, you won’t miss a minute of any sporting event!

Watching a Sacramento Republic FC match is a great way to spend a summer night. Get your tickets now and show your hometown team some love!
