Where to Ring in the New Year in the Greater Sacramento Area
This post has been updated for 2023.
As 2022 comes to a close, it’s time to start thinking about the year ahead. But before we make our resolutions and goals for 2023, we should think about how to ring in the new year! New Year’s Eve is a chance for us to say goodbye to the past and hello to the future. While many people choose to stay in and celebrate with a glass of bubbly at the stroke of midnight, many others choose to go out on the town and celebrate in style! If you’re one of the latter, there are plenty of spots around the greater Sacramento area to ring in the new year. Following are some ideas.
Gear up for this epic event at Drakes at the Barn in West Sacramento. The party starts at 8 p.m. for VIP ticketholders and features the worldly beats of Meena Zaki. There’s a silent disco starting at 10 p.m., plus delicious food and drinks to keep you fueled up.
Sure, there’s more to this New Year’s Eve party than tacos, but we thought we’d lead with the most important thing first. Hosted by the family-run Canto Ao Vinho winery in Rocklin, this event features a taco feast in the wine cellar followed by live music by Merry Mac at 7 p.m. New Year’s will be celebrated at New York City time – 9 p.m.
Ring in the new year in style on a boat ride along the Sacramento River. This festive cruise departs from Old Sacramento and includes a DJ spinning Top 40 music and a glass of champagne for a midnight toast. There are also small bites available for purchase as well as a full bar.
This raucous pub crawl takes revelers to various locations to clink champagne glasses all over town. It kicks off at Flatstick Pub in downtown Sacramento and participants can hit as many or as few spots as they like, all for one low price. Wristbands not only get free entry to participating bars, but also drink specials all night.
The Green Room Social Club in Placerville is hosting a New Year’s Eve party like no other! The VIP All-Access ticket gets you early entry and hot appetizers, plus entry to see the Shane Q Band at 8 p.m. and Red Dirt Ruckus at 10 p.m. Or, you can grab tickets for the individual events you prefer.
Kick off your new year with a bang at the Thirsty Goat in Woodland. The event features DJ Kevin Banger, plus a free champagne toast at midnight and a balloon drop with cash prizes. Best of all, there’s no cover!
Celebrate the new year with some live music at Harlow’s in midtown Sacramento. Performing is local rock band The Mother Hips along with Forever Goldrush. Prefer some R&B dance vibes instead? Dress to impress and head upstairs to the Starlet Room to hear DJ J. Rich and DJ Sparky, featuring a red carpet entry, photo ops and a midnight countdown.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve the right way at Punch Bowl Social in downtown Sacramento. The event features a live DJ, photobooth, and a midnight toast for VIP attendees. You also have access to games and activities such as bowling, darts, arcade games and more.
