Lyon Gives Back Through Annual Philanthropy Efforts

As a proud member of the local community, Lyon Real Estate is committed to giving back. Through its charitable giving and volunteer programs, Lyon has contributed to hundreds of local organizations and agencies to help make the Sacramento area a better place to live, work and play. From organizations that help low-income families and seniors to those dedicated to beautifying our neighborhoods and natural spaces, Lyon is honored to support those efforts.

Lyon Real Estate leads three unique programs dedicated to helping others: The Lyon Cares Foundation, which provides grants to local non-profits; the annual Coat Drive, which collects new and gently-used coats; and Lyon’s Community Service Day, in which volunteers donate their time for community-based service projects. Lyon is thrilled to share some highlights from 2022.

Lyon’s Annual Coat Drive, held every October, collects coats, jackets, hoodies, fleece, sweaters, scarves, mittens, hats and other winter clothing for those in need. The coats are collected at each of Lyon’s 17 offices in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties and distributed to community members via local agencies such as Loaves & Fishes, WEAVE, the Sacramento Food Bank, and many others. This October, the coat drive collected 10,728 coats. Since its inception in 2011, the coat drive has collected and donated a total of 95,374 coats.

Lyon’s Community Service Day

Lyon’s annual Community Service Day brings together volunteers from each of Lyon’s 17 offices to help communities in need. From food banks to animal rescues to community clean-ups, local organizations benefit from the hands-on projects led by Lyon agents and employees.

This year marked the second Community Service Day, with more than 180 agents and staff putting in nearly 540 hours of service to grassroots organizations. Each office researches the greatest need in their local area, reaches out to the organization and works collaboratively to plan the project.

This year, some of the projects included preparing flower beds for The Petal Connection, which delivers flower bouquets to hospice patients and seniors; making home repairs for needy residents through Rebuilding Together Sacramento; and preparing food boxes for delivery to low-income seniors via Meals on Wheels Yolo County. Other agencies benefiting from Lyon’s Community Service Day in 2022 included the following:

  • Shriner’s Hospital for Children
  • Aspire Kids
  • Rebuilding Together Sacramento
  • Foothill Dog Rescue
  • Elk Grove Food Bank
  • Saint John’s Program for Real Change
  • Hearts Landing Ranch
  • American River Parkway
  • Stand Up Placer Thrift Store
  • The Petal Connection
  • Yolo Meals on Wheels
  • Auburn community beautification
  • Davis community beautification
  • Fair Oaks Village neighborhood cleanup

“Our vision is to inspire and empower care and kindness in the communities we serve,” said Pat Shea, Lyon CEO. “Through our annual Community Service Day, we put that vision into action as our agents and staff volunteer their time to make a difference. From river clean-ups to neighborhood revitalization and beyond, this event was an impactful one!”
