Celebrate the Fourth of July at These Sacramento-Area Events

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally able to gather with friends and family again! That means this Fourth of July is sure to be spectacular — even more so than before the pandemic, as we’re all ready for some socializing and celebrating! Although some cities have postponed their events until 2022, many others are back on this year, so the Independence Day holiday will feel a bit more normal. So whether you’re looking for a parade, a fireworks show or just a bit of revelry with your community, following are some of the top Fourth of July events to be held this year in the greater Sacramento area.

Note: All events are following state health and safety guidelines with regards to COVID-19. Vaccinations are strongly recommended for those who are eligible, and guests are encouraged to wear face coverings, especially those who are unable to be vaccinated, including children age 2–11.

 

Folsom Pro Rodeo
July 2–4, 2021

Ready to see some mutton busting, flying cowboys and painted ladies? You can see it all at the Folsom Pro Rodeo. The event features challenges like sheep riding for kids, high-flying motocross and a female-led horseback drill team. Of course, you’ll also see rodeo events like bull riding, roping and barrel racing. There’s also some boot scootin’ at the onsite dance hall, live music, and a nightly fireworks show.

 

Rancho Cordova 4th of July Celebration
July 3­–4, 2021

Fireworks

Rancho Cordova has one of the best Fourth of July celebrations in the area, and this year is no different. There will be a morning road race on Saturday followed by a parade, plus live music and fireworks at night at Hagan Park. The following day will also have live music and fireworks. Food trucks and a beer station will be available on both days.

 

Roseville 4th of July Celebration

Roseville is back at it again this year with their parade and fireworks show. The parade begins at 9 a.m., traveling along Vernon Street until it hits Royer Park. There will be live music, games and activities for kids, plus food for purchase. That night, Roseville will host a fireworks show at The Grounds.

 

Elk Grove’s Salute to the Red, White & Blue

Elk Grove’s fireworks spectacular is back this year at Elk Grove Park. The celebration kicks off with a free concert, followed by opening ceremonies and the National Anthem. Another concert leads up to the fireworks show, which begins at 9:40. Can’t make it in person? Watch the sky light up on ABC10 and listen to the musical simulcast on 93.7 The River.

 

Auburn Fourth of July Celebration & Fireworks

Auburn is back with its popular community event celebrating the Fourth of July. The day begins with a pancake breakfast in Old Town Auburn, followed by a parade that ends up at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. The evening will feature live music and vendors, with fireworks beginning around 9:30 p.m.

 

Annual Fourth of July Family Blast
July 4–5, 2021

El Dorado County 4th of July

Up in Placerville, you can celebrate the Red, White & Blue at the annual 4th of July Family Blast. Held at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, the event features live music, a carnival with games and rides, food vendors and of course, fireworks! The carnival will even be open the following day, Monday July 5, and unlimited ride wristbands are available.

Sutter Health Park Fourth on the Field Remix

Sutter Health Park is hosting a unique event this Fourth of July, featuring a performance by the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera. The fireworks show will begin after the hour-long concert, and will be synched with music from the live orchestra. There are different levels of seating, including blanket seating on the field, reserved bowl seating, or a private air-conditioned suite.

 

Lincoln Fourth of July Celebration

Lincoln residents can gather with their friends and neighbors at a Fourth of July celebration held at McBean Park. The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast fundraiser, followed by a parade in downtown Lincoln and a horseshoe tournament. Afterwards, you can cool off at McBean Pool, or grab a bite to eat from the onsite food vendors. Later on, there will be games for kids and activities like a mechanical bull, rock wall and inflatables, followed by fireworks.

 

Grass Valley Fourth of July Parade and Celebration
July 3­–4

Grass Valley is all about celebrating the U.S.A. with a colorful parade and fireworks show. The two-day event kicks off Saturday with a family day featuring a pancake breakfast, live music, carnival games and food vendors. Sunday begins with a festive parade with the theme “A Salute to Our Nevada County Heroes.” That night, the city is hosting a fireworks show, but residents are asked to view them from their homes or various locations throughout the city.
