Why Rocklin, CA is a Great Place to Live (and Visit!)

One of the oldest communities in the greater Sacramento area, Rocklin was initially inhabited by the Nisenan Maidu. Miners and trappers came to the region in the mid-1800s, and by the time the railroad was built, it became a bustling city named for the rock excavated from its many granite quarries.

Rocklin grew slowly over the decades, with a growth in the housing market going full steam ahead in the 1950s and 1960s. By the 1980s, a full boom — both residential and commercial — was in effect. When the Westfield Galleria shopping mall opened its doors in nearby Roseville in 2000, Rocklin’s fate as a desirable place to live was sealed.

Today, you’ll find ranch-style family homes, luxury estates, contemporary condos and of course, the charming historic homes that were once a part of the town’s original city center. There are great restaurants, unique shops, outdoor activities, and much more! Following are some of the reasons why Rocklin is a great place to live (and to visit!)

A few to consider are The Chef’s Table, a farm-to-table restaurant featuring locally produced ingredients and 24 beers on tap;  Zest Kitchen, a vegan cafe with salads, burgers and wraps; and Mezcalito Oaxacan Cuisine, known for their authentic mole. Rocklin has a great selection of restaurants representing cuisine from across the globe, including Vietnamese, Filipino, Indian and Lebanese, among others.
