Things to Do in El Dorado Hills

The affluent suburb of El Dorado Hills, just 25 miles northeast of downtown Sacramento, is known for its family-friendly vibe and proximity to outdoor recreation. The city is comprised of high-end luxury homes, upscale townhomes and apartments, and single-family homes with room to roam.

El Dorado Hills is considered one of the best places to live in the greater Sacramento area. It boasts great schools, expansive parks and greenspaces, plenty of bars and restaurants and excellent shopping. In addition, it hosts all types of community events, from weekly farmers markets to live concerts and outdoor movies. Following are some of our favorite things to do in El Dorado Hills.

Get Outside

Its location in the Sierra foothills means El Dorado Hills has plenty of outdoor recreation to enjoy. The city sits along the southeastern shore of Folsom Lake, ideal for swimming, boating, fishing and water sports like kayaking and jet skiing. There are also numerous hiking and biking trails around the lake, which is the eastern terminus for the American River Bike Trail.

Numerous parks can be found in El Dorado Hills as well, including Promontory Park, with its large playground and splash pad, and El Dorado Hills Community Park is a great place for humans and canines alike. The park is a serene and beautiful place to go as a family, or to let your dog run around within the small dog and large dog fenced-in parks. There’s also a community pool where you can cool off in the summer!

Go on a Shopping Spree

El Dorado Hills is a shopper’s delight, with every imaginable item for sale within its confines. Much of the commerce centers around the El Dorado Hills Town Center, a hub for community events, dining, movie going, and of course, retail therapy.

If you love dogs as much as we do, the first priority on your shopping list is finding some supplies and accessories for your fur baby. Bark Avenue is a locally owned and operated pet supply and grooming store, providing full-service grooming, a do-it-yourself dog wash station, and even puppy training. Cadence Corner Boutique specializes in women’s clothing, accessories, home decor, and gift items. Shop their unique collection offered at affordable prices!

Take a break from Facebook and get your Face in a Book at this neighborhood gathering place for readers of all ages seeking books on every subject. This bookstore provides a relaxing resting place amidst the activity at El Dorado Hills Town Center, where you can pick up a new book, or grab a gift, greeting card, or stationery.

Have a Bite & a Pint

The greater Sacramento area is the Farm-to-Fork Capital, and El Dorado Hills is no exception. It has some of the best restaurants to experience cuisine that highlights the abundance of nearby farms, ranches and orchards. Some of the best spots to try include Selland’s Market-Café, which features farm-fresh salads, pizza, sandwiches and plates. Another good bet is Milestone, offering seasonal dishes such as duck confit with green lentils and wild boar Bolognese.

El Dorado Hills is also known for its up-and-coming craft brew scene. Mraz Brewing Company is a down-to-earth local brewery serving up award-winning Belgian and American-inspired ales. At 36 Handles Public House, you can take advantage of a wide selection of beers on tap and fill up on pub fare like wings, tots and burgers. You can also enjoy live music on the outdoor patio during the summer!
