Lyon Real Estate Gears Up for Its Ninth-Annual Coat Drive
For the ninth consecutive October, Lyon Real Estate will turn its 17 offices throughout the greater Sacramento region into collection points for new and reusable winter coats in reasonably good condition.
Winter coats of all sizes and types can be dropped off between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31. Each office will donate the coats to non-profit organizations in their local communities. The charities will then make coats available to individuals and families in need to stay warm during the colder months.
Sacramento residents, along with Lyon agents and employees, donated a total of 13,392 coats last October during the Lyon Coat Drive, part of several charitable efforts undertaken by the Lyon Cares Foundation throughout the year. The location of multiple Lyon Real Estate offices throughout greater Sacramento helps make the drive a success each year, with offices in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties. Coats can be dropped off during normal business hours. Find the Lyon Real Estate office nearest you.
Non-profits that have received and distributed winter coats through Lyon Real Estate’s Coat Drive include Powerhouse Ministries, STEAC, Green Valley Community Church, Elk Grove Clothes Closet, Wind Youth Services, Sierra Family and Child Services, Mustard Seed, Salt Mine, and North REC Center. Despite the region’s relatively mild winters, coats are a necessity for staying warm and dry. Coat donations from drives such as Lyon Real Estate’s help to increase awareness and generate substantial donations to assist less those in need in local communities.
Typically, residents will donate coats only a couple of years old as sons and daughters outgrow them. Or, people with the means will buy an extra coat when purchasing a winter jacket of their own.
“We are privileged to make the donations of coats easier through our regional office network,” said Lyon Real Estate president Pat Shea. “Whether you’re in the downtown area or in El Dorado Hills, there’s a Lyon office near you that will be accepting new or reusable coats throughout October.”
