Celebrate the Red, White & Blue at These Fourth of July Events Near Sacramento
America’s birthday is just around the corner, and communities across the greater Sacramento area are coming out in full force to celebrate! Whether you want to indulge in a food festival, cool off in a swimming pool, strut your stuff in a parade or simply relax and watch a spectacular fireworks show, there are plenty of events to choose from. So show off your patriotic spirit by joining your neighbors in giving the good ole USA some love! Following are some of the best Fourth of July events in and around the Sacramento area.
Folsom Pro Rodeo | Folsom
July 4–6, 2019
Bucking broncos, barrel racing and mutton busting — the Folsom Pro Rodeo has been a family-friendly tradition for the community of Folsom for nearly 60 years! Watch high-flying motocross riders, laugh at a dancing rodeo clown, see live country music, and catch the nightly fireworks. After hours, boot scoot under the stars in an open-air bar serving up Coors and Jack Daniels. Reserve your tickets in advance for the best seats.
4th of July Celebration | Roseville
July 4, 2019 | 9 a.m.–9:30 p.m.

Start your Independence Day celebration early in Roseville with a parade down Vernon Street. After the parade, hang out in Royer Park for food, games and music by the Capitol Pops Concert Band. After the sun goes down, head over to the Placer County Fairgrounds for an impressive fireworks show. If you’re feeling especially ambitious, get up early for the annual Run Crime Out of Roseville fun run/walk benefitting local law enforcement. The race kicks off with a 10K at 7:20, followed by a 5K at 7:45. There’s even a free kid’s 1/4 mile run led by Roseville S.W.A.T. beginning at 8:45.
4th of July Celebration | Rancho Cordova
July 3–4, 2019
This annual event is not only a celebration of the USA, it’s also a celebration of the Rancho Cordova community! On July 3, come on out to Hagan Park for a family-friendly carnival complete with beer garden and a kids zone with pony rides, petting zoo, a trampoline and more. Stick around to watch the BMX Freestyle Team, followed by live music and a fireworks show beginning at 9:45. The next day, join in the Fourth of July Parade and see if your float has what it takes to win a prize! The day continues with a youth band competition, cornhole tournament, more live music and entertainment and a fireworks spectacular.
Cottage Park 4th of July Celebration | Arden-Arcade
July 4, 2019 | 2–7 p.m.
Wave the red, white and blue at Cottage Park in the Arden-Arcade area! You can cool off in Cottage Pool, which has lap lanes, a diving board and even a spiraly waterslide! Listen to live music and enjoy FREE food from Chick-fil-A, BJ’s Restaurant and the Fulton Avenue Business Association.
Gala Parade & Fireworks | Carmichael
July 4, 2019 | 10:30 a.m.
Begin your Fourth of July with an old-fashioned parade along Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael, complete with community floats, marching bands and antique cars. In the evening, head to La Sierra Community Center for food trucks, music, arts and crafts, bounce houses and more. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs, spread out on the grass and watch the fireworks overhead beginning at 9:30.
July 4th Celebration | Woodland

There’s so much to do in Woodland on July 4 it’ll be hard to choose! The day begins with a bike parade for both kids and adults. Decorate your bikes and scooters with the flashiest flair you can find and meet at Heritage Plaza. Ride to the library, where there’ll be live music, bounce houses, games and free snow cones! Afterwards, join in the free swim fest at the Charles Brooks Community Swim Center and check out the inflatable obstacle course. If you still have energy left, head to Woodland High School for music, games and food before the fireworks show, which begins at 9:15.
Unity in Our Community Festival | Sacramento

Head to the Pocket-Greenhaven neighborhood for the 4th of July Parade and Unity in Our Community Festival! The event starts out with a parade at Lisbon Elementary School, followed by the festival at Garcia Bend Park. The kids will go nuts over 10 — yes 10 — bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, a petting zoo, face painting and crafts! Sacto MoFo will be there with numerous food trucks, including Hefty Gyros, Mac Daddy Island Grill and Wandering Boba, and live music will entertain the whole family.
Auburn Family Fourth | Auburn
July 4, 2019 | 4:30–10 p.m.
Bring the whole family to the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn for food, fun and festivities! Watch (or join!) the parade as it makes its way down Harrison Street in Downtown Auburn, sip a cold beer or margarita, listen to live music and browse the local vendors. Bring a blanket and grab a seat on the lawn to watch the fireworks show, which begins at 9:40 p.m.
Salute to the Red, White & Blue | Elk Grove

Nothing says “America” more than fireworks, a pie-eating contest and a parade, and Elk Grove has them all! Now in its 22nd year, this event, held at Elk Grove Regional Park, also has food trucks, roaming entertainment and a live performance by geeky 80s cover band The Spazmatics. The event is free but parking is $10.
Annual Fourth of July Family Blast | Placerville
July 4, 2019 | 4–11 p.m.
Pack a picnic, some lawn games and a cooler and head to the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville to celebrate the Fourth of July! The kids will keep busy with carnival rides, water slides and a bounce house, while live music will keep mom and dad entertained. If you’re not in the mood to BYO, no problem, you can buy food and drinks onsite. Cap off the night with fireworks after sundown.

What’s more patriotic than celebrating the Fourth of July at a baseball park? Held at Raley Field in West Sacramento, this annual event has food trucks, games and contests, live music and of course a spectacular fireworks show! Kids can run around on the playground, adults can play foosball and ping pong, and the whole family can tap their toes to live music. You can even test your mettle at a hog-dog eating contest or push-up contest.
Tahoe Park Fourth of July Spark-Tacular | Sacramento
July 4, 2019 | 10 a.m.– 2 p.m.
The first-ever Fourth of July event in the Tahoe Park neighborhood is sure to be fun for the whole family! The day stars out with a parade through the park, followed by a pool party at the Tahoe Park Pool, complete with water games. Best of all, Sacto MoFo will have food trucks of all kinds there, including Chando’s Tacos, On the Fry, Rollin Roadhouse and Bubble Cone.

The Fourth of July fireworks show at Cal Expo is a Sacramento tradition. Although you can see the show from many parts of the city, you can reserve the best seats in the house at the Miller Lite Racetrack Grandstand. In addition to the main event, there is also live music, vendors, and food. General admission is free, but you can reserve tickets for $10.
