The 10 Most Instagrammable Coffee Shops in the Sacramento Area

We’ve talked about the best coffee shops in the Sacramento area before. But let’s be honest, in this day and age, one of the most important factors of a positive coffee shop experience is the overall aesthetic. Because if you didn’t post a photo of your latte art to Instagram — or at least your Instagram story — did you even go there?!

Let’s step inside some of the most Instragrammable coffee shops in Sacramento and its surrounding neighborhoods and cities. These coffee shops provide the ideal environment to sip on a cup of coffee, snack on a pastry or small bite, and of course, post a shot of your experience on the Internet.

With several locations throughout the city, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to visit Insight Coffee Roasters. This well-known roaster plays an active role in their coffee’s producer-direct sourcing process, ensuring beneficial farming practices and maintaining relationships with coffee farmers all over the world. Insight is passionate about educating their consumers with various classes, covering subjects such as home brewing methods and even home roasting. This is a forward-thinking shop that provides nothing but products of the highest quality. Plus, their bright and clean interiors provide the perfect blank canvas for your Instagram shot. You’ll encounter details like rustic wood paneling, unique light fixtures, plants, and even some cool artwork and murals.

Origin Coffee & Tea

2168 Sunset Boulevard, Rocklin

We love this coffee shop in Rocklin for a number of reasons — the main one being their incredible mission. Origin Coffee & Tea is a non-profit coffee shop actively working to fight against sex trafficking. In fact, it is the reason their business exists, and not simply a side project or small element in their business model. Origin also has all the elements needed for the perfect Instagram shot — including pretty dishware and tables, modern-industrial chairs and stools, a minimalist menu, and lots of natural light.

Origin Coffee & Tea runs on a volunteer basis, and you can be a part of their volunteer team! Or you can donate to their cause directly with a one-time or recurring donation.

The co-founder of the successful Insight Coffee Roasters opened Identity Coffees in 2016, hoping to carve a niche in the growing market of specialty coffee. Identity Coffees has since expanded to a new location in West Sacramento, in addition to its flagship location in Midtown. The Midtown shop has a spacious and stylish interior, providing the perfect setting for getting together with friends, hosting a meeting, studying, or simply relaxing before or after a long day. The minimalist architecture of Insight is quite striking, and several of the wood pieces and custom metal fixtures were handcrafted by employees. Insight roasts in small batches and offers a variety of options on their menu, with an emphasis on simple, traditional coffee drinks.

Morgan’s Mill

1059 Court Street Suite 105, Woodland

Morgan’s Mill is a relatively new coffee shop located in downtown Woodland. In addition to exceptional coffee sourced from Entimos in Sacramento, Morgan’s Mill serves alcoholic beverages and creative fare, including waffles, sandwiches and more. Morgan’s Mill provides an enchanting atmosphere with a modern industrial feel. The shop operates out of a historic brick building that once housed a train depot, a rice mill, and a bookstore, among other businesses. This creates the ideal Instagram backdrop — especially on the outdoor patio with string lights, lush foliage, and ivy-covered brick walls. Keep an eye out for the second location opening soon in the heart of downtown!

Temple Coffee Roasters

Temple Coffee Roasters is another shop in the area that is extremely passionate about the coffee-making process — all the way back to its origins. They are involved with the production from the farm to your cup, ensuring only the highest quality and most ethically crafted product. Grab any of their freshly roasted blends online or visit their shop in person to be a part of their amazing coffee culture. Each Temple location offers a unique experience and aesthetic — from the cozy brick interior of their Midtown shop on 22nd and K Street (with a floor made of over 500,000 hand-laid pennies!) to the bright and minimalist feel of their Davis location. Whether you’re sipping Temple coffee downtown or in Midtown, Arden-Arcade, or Davis, you’re bound to get the perfect Instagram shot.

Fourscore Coffee House in Roseville has a simple agenda: to make amazing coffee, support and encourage local musicians and artists, and do their part in the fight against human trafficking. They serve a mean cup of coffee and an array of small bites and sweet treats, like donuts and the occasional macaron ice cream sandwiches. Plus, their space is gorgeous — from the exposed brick walls to the large wooden communal tables, and the industrial lighting to an iconic painting of Abraham Lincoln.

Station 38

3711A J Street, Sacramento

Situated in East Sacramento along the lively J Street, Station 38 serves excellent coffee, an array of freshly made waffles, organic loose leaf teas, healthy açaí bowls, and smoothies. They offer a traditional coffee menu in addition to a specialty coffee menu, which includes specialty drinks like Cafe du Monde and The Manda, which is a combination of Thai tea and coffee. The bright and simple interior of Station 38 is just as inspired as their menu. It has pretty white subway tiles behind the counter, wood paneling, white countertops, and a gorgeous mural by Franceska Gámez on the wall.

Kingdom Coffee Roasters

305 Iron Point Road, Folsom

Tucked away in a strip mall in Folsom, Kingdom Coffee Roasters is a fairly new addition to the community. This roaster is extremely passionate about coffee, from its origins to the brewing process. Their bright and spacious interior is the perfect place to sip on a latte and bite into one of their pastries. We particularly love the simple golden Kingdom logo painted on a black wall near the roasting equipment and the large coffee plant mural on the wall to the left. Each design makes for an excellent backdrop for your Instagram shot.

The Mill

The Mill is a vibrant, sleek coffee shop in Midtown. In addition to its stunning interior with plants, an artsy wooden menu, minimalist shelving, and other thoughtful details, The Mill serves a mean cup of coffee. The Mill operated as a mobile cafe before opening its brick-and-mortar location in 2014, and we are so thankful to have them on the roster of incredible coffee shops in the Sacramento area! In 2017, the owners of The Mill launched Bouquet Coffee Roasters, a thoughtful extension of their shop operating as a retail and wholesale coffee company. In January 2019, The Mill opened a second location in East Sacramento, sharing a space with Bouquet Coffee Roasters. Each of the cafes were designed and built by The Mill team. And both locations serve their famous liege-style waffle plated with seasonal jam, maple syrup, or honey butter.  At the East Sac location, they also serve toast with choice housemade spreads.

Pachamama Coffee

Pachamama Coffee Cooperative is a farmer-owned roaster and distributor owned by small-scale farmers in Peru, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Mexico. They sell organic coffee in Sacramento at two coffee bar locations, at their roastery and online. Their coffee bar in Midtown is the perfect space to enjoy a cup of their expertly roasted coffee, visit with friends, and tour their roastery. Plus, Pachamama hosts a number of events, including open mics, poetry nights, and more. We adore their modern industrial interior with pops of blue paint, gorgeous exposed brick, wood beams, and a large live-edge community table.
