17 Easter Events For Kids in the Sacramento Area

Easter is just around the corner! This springtime celebration typically involves breakfast or brunch, egg hunts, Easter Bunny visits, and other fun activities for little ones. There are so many Easter events for kids in the Sacramento area this year, most of which involve an exciting Easter egg hunt (and one that involves wine for the adults!). Put on your finest Easter pastels, grab your baskets, and hop on over to these kid-friendly Easter events in Sacramento and surrounding communities.

 

Easter Egg Express

March 17–18, 24–25 + 31 | 1 p.m. (10 a.m. + 2 p.m. on March 31)

All ages are invited to hop on board the Easter Egg Express for an unforgettable springtime experience! This special 2.5-hour train ride features an Easter egg hunt, a ride on the rails, kid-friendly activities, and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. Plan your excursion on any of the last three weekends in March.

 

Easter Eggstravaganza at Funderland

March 23–25

Funderland Park, Sacramento

Funderland Park is a haven for kids every day of the year — especially during their annual Easter Eggstravaganza! Enjoy egg hunts, visits from the Easter Bunny, free arts and crafts, vendors, rides and more at this all-day celebration. Funderland hosts egg hunts limited to groups of 30 children starting every 30 minutes at the top and bottom of the hour. Check out the various egg hunt times divided by age group to plan your visit to Funderland Park the weekend before Easter!

 

Southgate Bunny Breakfast & Eggs Galore

March 24 | 8:30–11 a.m.

Jose P. Rizal Community Center, Sacramento

Head to the Jose P. Rizal Community Center for a morning of activity, featuring a special Bunny Breakfast and an egg hunt. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny includes eggs, bacon, sausage, pancake, milk, juice and coffee. After your meal, search for the various eggs the Easter Bunny has hidden throughout the park and participate in various free activities. The breakfast costs $5 per family in advance or $7 per family the day of, and the egg hunt is completely free!

McConnell Estates is throwing an Easter celebration both parents and kids will enjoy. Kids can visit with the Easter Bunny and adults can sip on wine at this special event for all ages. Wine is free for Wine Club members and their guests, and all other visitors can purchase tastings for $5 or for free with a wine bottle purchase. This is the perfect opportunity to take priceless photos with the Easter Bunny and stock up on holiday wine!

 

Easter Eggstravaganza at EDH Town Center

March 24 | 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

El Dorado Hills Town Center, El Dorado Hills

 

Hop on over to the Steven Young Amphitheater at El Dorado Hills Town Center to hunt for eggs filled with candy and free gift coupons. There will be five egg zones for various ages (ages 0-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7 and 8-12). After the egg hunt, children may visit participating businesses to collect free gifts! There will even be a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, a magic show, music, face painting, balloon artists, and a raffle for a giant Easter gift.

 

Breakfast With the Bunny

March 28 | 9–10:30 a.m.

Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse, Fair Oaks

On the Wednesday morning before Easter, head to the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse for a special Breakfast With the Bunny, featuring a continental breakfast, crafts and a photo opportunity. Bring your own camera and purchase tickets in advance as seating is limited! Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for children 11 years and under. Use coupon code BUNNY for an additional $2 off tickets purchased before March 16.

 

Arden Park Easter Egg-Stravaganza

Enjoy some good old fashioned family fun in the park at Arden Park’s annual Easter Egg-Stravaganza. Play carnival games and eat breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. and participate in egg hunts at 10:15 a.m., divided into age groups at individual times. Breakfast costs $5 per person and includes pancakes, ham, Danish, fruit, juice, coffee and hot chocolate. The egg hunt and carnival games cost $3 per person.

 

Hoppin’ & Huntin’ at Hagan

March 31 | 8:30 a.m.–12 p.m.

Hagan Community Park and Community Center, Rancho Cordova

Hoppin’ & Huntin’ at Hagan is an annual Easter egg hunt and community celebration featuring egg hunts at three different time slots for children 10 and under. Plus, there will be photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, games, music, face painting, inflatable houses, contests and prizes. The Kiwanis Club will also host a fundraiser pancake breakfast that is $5 for adults 18 and over and free for anyone 18 and under.

 

EDH Easter Egg Hunt + Aqua Egg Hunt

March 31 | 9–10:30 a.m. + 2–4 p.m.

The El Dorado Hills Community Park has lots in store the day before Easter. Enjoy an Easter egg hunt on land in the morning or hop into the pool for a special egg hunt in the pool in the afternoon! Whether your children are searching for eggs in the grass or in the water, there are lots of prizes and goodies in store.

 

Fair Oaks Easter Eggstravaganza

You won’t want to miss the Fair Oaks Easter Eggstravaganza — no matter your age. Free activities include the children’s egg hunts, pictures with the bunny, a craft table, and a petting zoo. Visitors ages 16 and up may participate in the $3 adult egg hunt where you can win gift cards and more. A $10 wristband grants access to unlimited carnival games and inflatables, one train ride, and one face painting. There are also 50-cent tickets available for purchase. Hop on over to the pancake breakfast presented by the Fair Oaks Host Lion’s Club. Enjoy pancakes, eggs, orange juice or coffee for $6 per adult or $3 per child.

 

Cameron Park Easter Egg Hunt

March 31 | 10 a.m.

Rasmussen Park, Cameron Park

This 36-year community tradition is a must-do for Cameron Park residents. Head to Rasmussen Park to see the Easter Bunny arrive at 10 a.m. and begin hunting for eggs at 10:20. Individual age groups for the egg hunt are 0-3, 4-5, 6-7, and 8-10. After the hunt, the Easter Bunnies will be available for photos. There will also be face painting and a bounce house for a nominal fee. Otherwise, this event is completely free!

 

Folsom Spring Eggstravaganza

March 31 | 8 a.m. (Vendors + Activities) + 10 a.m. (Egg Hunt Begins)

Lembi Park, Folsom

Head to Lembi Park in Folsom for this fun annual event, which includes a pancake breakfast, free kiddie carnival games, entertainment, vendor displays and activities, and a huge egg hunt featuring more than 25,000 eggs filled with candy and prize slips. The egg hunt takes place on four sports fields divided by age group, and there’s even a special egg hunt available for parents and grandparents!

The Sacramento Zoo has plenty in store on Easter weekend with their special EGGstravaganZOO event — including age-specific egg hunts, colorful crafts, animal enrichments, and goody bags. Search the zoo grounds for emerald green emu eggs, watch an exciting stage show, and visit a keeper chat to learn about the roles eggs play in the animal world. All of this is included with general zoo admission!

 

Fairytale Town Spring Eggstravaganza

March 31–April 1 | 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Fairytale Town, Sacramento

Don’t miss Fairytale Town’s Spring Eggstravaganza — a full weekend of activities, including egg hunts, prizes, spring-themed arts and crafts, and more. Egg hunt times and areas are separated by age groups. Please visit fairytaletown.org for details. Puppet Art Theater Company will be on site performing a special Bunny Boot Camp in the Children’s Theater. Tickets for the show are $1 for members and $2 for non-members. Plus, enjoy a visit with Peter Cottontail on the Mother Goose Stage! Tickets for the Fairytale Town Spring Eggstravaganza are $7 for both kids and adults in advance or $10 for both kids and adults the day of. Children ages 1 and under and Fairytale Town members can get in for free!

 

Underwater Egg Hunt

March 31 | 1–3 p.m.

Fruitridge Aquatic Center, Sacramento

Search far and wide for eggs — including inside the swimming pool at the Fruitridge Aquatic Center! The Underwater Egg Hunt is a unique Easter activity for kids ages 12 and under to collect eggs in the pool, searching for a Golden Egg, which can be exchanged for a special prize. Participants are encouraged to bring a basket or mesh bag to the event. There will also be an open swim time for participants before and after the hunt!

 

Sacramento Easter River Cruise

April 1 | 12 p.m. + 1:30 p.m. + 3 p.m.

Take in views of the city from a different perspective aboard a Hornblower River Cruise traveling along the Sacramento River. The one-hour Sacramento Easter River Cruise will feature a special visit from the Easter Bunny, live narration about Sacramento River facts and history, concessions available for purchase, and of course, scenic city views. Purchase your tickets in advance to ensure a spot on the cruise, and be sure to arrive 15 minutes early for departure!

 

Easter Egg Hunt

April 1 | 1 p.m.

Johnson-Springview Park, Rocklin

Join the Rocklin Firefighters for their annual Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday at 1 p.m. This fun family-friendly event is free and open to children ages 10 and under! Age groups for the hunt include 0-1, 2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10, all in separate zones.
