Get Inspired By These Mid-Century Modern Looks

If you’re a frequent HGTV watcher, Pinterest peruser, or home magazine flipper, you’re aware of the world’s obsession with mid-century modern design. While the phrase “mid-century modern” took off in the ‘80s with the titling of this book, it has received the most attention in the last decade or so, only perpetuated by shows like AMC’s Mad Men.

While there is some debate on the exact date period, mid-century modern describes the design style and furniture concepts between 1933 to 1965, with a particular emphasis on designs found in the ‘50s.

Along with the design world and the mainstream public, we too are drawn to this design trend. Mid-century modern emphasizes raw forms, contemporary patterns, natural materials, and a connectivity between the outdoors and inside the home. It provides a sense of simplicity and organic forms — incorporating materials such as wood, metal, and plastic.

Let’s take a look at a few of our favorite mid-century modern looks to get inspired to bring this look into our own spaces!

We love this dining space that involves lots of natural features, like the wooden table and chairs, and a unique mod light fixture overhead.
