The Lyon Cares Foundation Grants $5,000 to Food Bank of El Dorado County

The Lyon Cares Foundation announced today that the Food Bank of El Dorado County is the recipient of a $5,000 grant. The Food Bank of El Dorado County is a non-profit distribution center that assists agencies and organizations in El Dorado County to feed homeless individuals and families in need.

Operated by Lyon Real Estate, the Lyon Cares Foundation provides grants to organizations that provide food and shelter to those in need in the Greater Sacramento Area. Funds are raised through donations by Lyon agents and staff throughout the year in addition to Lyon’s annual Charity Golf Tournament.

“The Food Bank of El Dorado County is extremely grateful to partner with the Lyon Cares Foundation,” Said Mike Sproull, Executive Director. “Such overwhelming support from community leaders like Lyon Real Estate ensures continued success in feeding the homeless and struggling families and individuals in our community.”

The Food Bank of El Dorado County helps feed over 10,000 people per month, a feat possible by converting every $1 donated or spent into $6 of food. Their unique company model, relying almost exclusively on the efforts of volunteers, allows the Food Bank of El Dorado County to minimize company expenses and contribute even more than relying solely on donations. Their impressive and spotless storage facility includes a refrigerator, towering freezer, and section for cat and dog food. They have partnered with all non-profits and charitable organizations in their area to bring food to those in need.

“It gives us great pride to be able to give this grant which will assist non-profits throughout El Dorado County.” said Lyon Real Estate president Pat Shea. “Good families are struggling, and the Food Bank of El Dorado County will stretch these funds to help many.”

Several times each year, the Lyon Cares Foundation presents grants to non-profits that provide food and shelter to those in need through nominations made by Lyon Real Estate agents.
