What’s With Wallpapering?

Spring renovations have people hitting the home improvement stores hard, particularly the paint aisles. A fresh coat of paint is one of the quickest, easiest, and surefire ways to freshen up or redefine a room. While blues, grays, and marsala are the hot colors this season, so it seems, is wallpaper.

Wallpaper is making a comeback, according to numerous designers and home improvement publications (Home & Garden, HGTV). It takes a bit more commitment, but it also has much more of an impact. Popular prints include floral (for living areas) and geometrical (kitchen) designs. Subtle colors and designs can be used for larger spaces and walls while bolder, more robust paper can be used in accent areas, but there really are no rules.

Not ready to commit to wallpaper? A nifty new product, aptly called Not Wallpaper, lets homeowners create intricate patterns on their walls with patterned paint rollers. Patterns include leopard print, damask, spring bird, symphony scrolls, and wood grain. New designs come out each season.
