Porch – The Latest (and Greatest?) Home Improvement Site

There are many resources to turn to when starting a home renovation. Porch.com caught the eye and ear of many industry experts this year, with the creator being named entrepreneur of the year by USA Today.

Created by Matt Ehlrichman, the site was designed for homeowners “to tell the stories of their houses.” Homeowners list and describe their home improvement projects and which companies were used. Contractors, painters and other home improvement professionals also list their services and projects and can be found by neighborhood and region.

“Porch is really all about the data,” Ehrlichman told Yahoo Finance, who also called Porch the Facebook for the home improvement community. “We have built this massive home network. We exposed that to homeowners so they can actually see the professionals their neighbors have used.”

The site also partnered with Lowe’s, not only further helping homeowners, but boosting the outreach of local companies as well. There also links to trending projects (in your area), advice, and inspiration for those not quite sure where to begin.
